Establishing a Sheet Metal Supply Relationship

If you buy a lot of sheet metal, whether you're involved in duct work, construction, repair or any other industry that involves a lot of sheet metal, then you need to find a good sheet metal supply company to strike up a working relationship with. Showing some customer loyalty can ultimately work out for the best when you've been buying from the same supplier for years on end, but of course, you don't want to get stuck with a company that could care less about your loyalty, so here's what to look for in a supplier.

Quality Metal

This comes first and foremost, above all else. No matter how cheap they might be, whether or not they have customer loyalty programs to reward longtime buyers, the bottom line is quality. If they're giving you cheap, low-quality, inconsistent sheet metal, then what good is it to keep buying from them? If you get lousy product from a company the first time you buy from them, there's absolutely no reason to ever make a second purchase.

Price

Price is important, but it's not the most important thing. Poorly made sheet metal is usually the cheapest, for instance, but that doesn't mean that the best sheet metal is the most expensive. Most sheet metal suppliers will offer deals on bulk purchases, for instance. Look for a company that offers fair prices on high quality sheet metal supply.

Deals and Programs

You're looking for programs that reward longtime working relationships. A company that will cut you a discount, for instance, based on number and quantity of purchase. Once you find a sheet metal supplier that offers you great product at fair prices and with rewards for long time support, you have a supplier that most in your industry would love to find.

They can be hard to find, of course, so you'll want to do some shopping around. If you have any colleagues or friends who work in sheet metal, you may want to start by asking them who their supplier is.
