  • Ruchita Genki sushi,is found all over Oahu, and now one in Kona(Big Is). Nothing to complain when sushi is cheap, fresh and fast. Try the Spicy Ahi, Dynamite Roll, Chicken Karagee, Somen Salad,Fresh Salmon, Garlic Ahi, Ahi bowl, or varities of other item on the menu. Everything is afforable, and tasty. Sometimes the waiting line is long in town areas, especially Ala Moana, Ward Ctr and Kapahulu, but it's worth the wait! I love my Genki-Spicy Ahi, I can eat 10 plates (20 pieces) and still have Hawaii made green tea icecream to top it all off.
  • Ruchita It's a big restaurant, bar and an entertainment (live music) place to be ! Definitely gets packed on Warrior game nights , Monday night football, and or any major sporting event night. I love their crab cakes, Jerk Fries, Cobb Salad, and their late night Half Off Pupus deal. Extensive wine and beverage list! Fun place to come with a big group to celebrate birthdays, or just hang out and watch games and drink.
  • Ruchita Definitely the landmark of Kapahulu, established in thhe 1960s, this is one of my all time favorite local plate lunch places. After a long day of surfing right around Waikiki,Diamond Head or Bowls, I like to drop by Rainbows for my favorite meal-LOCO MOCO, side orders of fries, or best ever Mahi Mahi sandwich, or one of their daily specials. Food is fast, cheap, and simply delicious, actually beyond delicious! It hits the spot every time.I love the aunties behind the counter. This is not your typical sit in and dine-in place, it's a TAKE out and seat outside place, parking could be a bit too tight but it's worth the wait.A lot of Japanese tourists love their LOCO MOCO, but locals love their Fried Chicken special, and their Beef Stew plate. Everything comes with rice, salad/mac salad and portions are either mini or regular (BIG).Best take out/dine in place.

City Spotlight

Honolulu

Hawaii is truly a tropical paradise and a jewel among the states. Honolulu, the capitol of Hawaii, is one of the most popular travel destinations in the state. With the perfect beaches, perfect sunsets and amazing sights to see, it is certainly no surprise. Let's look at the Aloha State up close.

Beautiful Scenery

The lush tropical foliage is abundant everywhere you look, and it is not surprising to see a rainbow here at least once per day. Taking a stroll over to the Botanical Gardens will not only amaze you with the inherent beauty, but will also help in identifying all the plant life found throughout the island. Another must see on the island is the Bishop Museum, which includes a three-story building bursting with artifacts and information from the past. Complete with a Planetarium and culturally-themed shows, this Museum is truly a must see.

Sightseeing

The Honolulu Zoo is a great place to take even the youngest of visitors, and though it's not one of the largest zoos in the country, there are certainly enough animals and exhibits to entertain them and keep them enthralled.

The last absolute must-see when visiting Honolulu is the Arizona Memorial. This free tour includes a short video about the bombing of Pearl Harbor and a boat tour of the sunken USS Arizona, complete with an audio account of all that happened on that fateful day in American history.

Lodging

Hotels are plentiful in Honolulu, including the Hale Koa Hotel, the Royal Grove Apart-hotel Waikiki, the Outrigger Reef on the Beach and numerous others including both budget and high-end accommodations.

Fine Hawaiian Cuisine

Restaurants are also a plentiful find here on the island of Honolulu as are bars and clubs. The Hard Rock Café is a great place to eat, drink and be merry. Including the usual cuisine for the Hard Rock, Elvis Presley's car is on display here, and the restaurant features a wide variety of drink specials and live music. The Wave also plays live music nightly of all different genres, so they are a sure bet to please the music enthusiast. The Banyan Bar, which is located inside the Moana Hotel, is home to an actual Banyan Tree which is over 100 years old and hovers above the bar with its branches serving as the rooftop.
