I've enjoyed hitting Coffee Works for many years. The coffee and non-caff drinks are good quality. I've seen some art there that's stayed with me for years, and was surprised to find it in a cafe. The baristas are really cool and friendly, and the roasters are even better!

I've been coming to this Starbucks since they opened in about 2000. Although it's small, the morning crowd is great if you're looking for some social time, the patio is a great place to sketch everything from cars and people to the vegetation. The baristas are great and it's family-friendly. What keeps me coming back are the big purple comfy chairs, though!

If you're looking for culturally meaningful gifts rich with soul, this is the place. La Raza is a *wonderful* gallery that shows some of the best work in the area, focused on the Chicano culture. The bookshop has not only great art books but items with reproductions of the work of Frieda Kahlo and other favorites, and the best stuff is the work of local artists like Esteban Villa and Jose Montoya, whose work is sometimes shown in the gallery.
