I've been hooked on this store since I was 12, it's so awesome. I never spend less than $40 here nowadays - there's just so much to buy! There's a lot of cheap CDs, as low as $1.00. Many of them are underground musicians but there are big names for about $4.99 used. While having the majority of their stuff used, there is also an impressive selection of new CDs as well. They also sell dvd movies and tv shows and vinyl records. If you can get past the homeless people, it's definitely worth the visit if you're interested in music. Also, stop by Escape from New York pizza 1 block down from the place afterwards - Amoeba usually has a coupon for there for a free coke with the purchase of a slice! It doesn't hurt that the pizza there is of GIGANTIC portions. Pretty much bigger than my head! I cold go on, but that should be for a separate review.
After reading all the good reviews this place had, I decided to go to the one in Ghirardelli Square but was very disappointed. The establishment itself was very nice and modern looking and things were cute, but the cupcake wasn't very good. The frosting was stiff, not soft or even pliable. Perhaps it was because I arrived at around 5pm, the cupcakes were probably not very fresh at that point. It was not worth my $3.25. I doubt I will return to try another flavor.
I generally like this Ross a lot less than the one in Lakeside Plaza on Sloat. Since this one is so close to the shopping center and is downtown, there's always a ton of people (read LONG lines) and I find it harder to find things I want here. Everything seems randomly scattered in sections, and I dislike the multi level-ness of the store, it makes it harder to lug things around to look for more. However, the Ross on Sloat (not listed) receives a 5 star from me! I love Ross - so many good deals. So great for gifting.
One of my favorite restaurants! The environment is nice and the food is great. My family used to come here ever weekend for months and months. Their specials come with cream soups that are delicious, and a cold drink for $1 more (it comes with tea or coffee by default). They have these sandwiches called porky buns, which is a really cute name. I think the only difference between that and a sandwich is the bun and the fact that sandwiches come with fries but porky buns don't. Definitely come here if you get the chance!
I had a great experience shopping here. I needed to redeem a coupon for a bottle of tea, and after looking for it, I only found a four pack. I enlisted the help of a worker who was stocking shelves who stopped what he was doing and went to ask another employee. I was directed back to the same four pack but was told that I can take out any from the pack and get it separately. At checkout, the staff was very helpful and instead of just charging me the tax that the computer told me to, they got the manager to get rid of the tax and made it completely free. The staff was full of young and friendly people and all their products seem so earth friendly and politically correct. I will definitely be back.
